De briefing
Een appartement in een voormalige verbandfabriek bij de Amsterdamse Weesperzijde is bijzonder qua indeling. Doordat de woning zich als het ware om een gang vormt, is het een verrassende mix van grote en kleinere, hoge en lage ruimtes, mezzanines en doorkijkjes.
De uitdaging
Een loft en industrieel erfgoed met hoge plafonds lenen zich voor een lichtontwerp met zowel krachtige gebaren als intieme details. De kunst is de juiste balans te vinden.
Het eindresultaat
De hoge wanden met kunst kregen een galerie-achtige verlichting. Als tegenwicht zijn structuren geaccentueerd en natuurlijke materialen en kleinere ruimtes warm en uitnodigend verlicht. De industriële look van de armaturen is een hoofdknik naar de vroegere functie van het gebouw.

The briefing
An apartment in a former bandage factory near Amsterdam’s Weesperzijde is unusual in its layout. Because the flat forms around a corridor, it is a surprising mix of large and smaller, high and low spaces, mezzanines and vistas.
The challenge
A loft and industrial heritage with high ceilings lend themselves to a lighting design with both powerful gestures and intimate details. The trick is to find the right balance.
The result
Juxtaposing with light: expressive versus intimate. Double height walls with art in the loft lent themselves to a gallery style of lighting. As a counterbalance, structures are accentuated and natural materials and smaller spaces lit warmly and invitingly. The industrial style of the luminaires is a tribute to the former use of the building.
